Isaiah 61:1-3
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,..to comfort all who mourn,...to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor.”

In November, 2007 Millie McCarty, along with Linda Millsaps Jones and Friend of the sponsors in Wuhan, Tom Garrison, travelled to Wuhan, China to present Pathways to Hope and Healing to a group of 58 participants from all parts of China. Participants were male and female, ages 20 – 52 and included many pastors and those from many
professions. “Our experience in Wuhan was one we’ll never forget. God touched our hearts and theirs and changed us all forever,” Millie said.
One student wrote a poem of the experience, part of which reads:
In January, 2009 Millie travelled back to China with Her friend Tom Garrison and Karel Waer, co-author of the new book she is writing on the life of one child that tells the story of millions – RUTH. This time Millie taught her newly released training seminar on WHY WE CAN’T “JUST GET OVER IT”; healing the lasting effects of prolonged stress and trauma. This time, there were 220 people from all over China in attendance. Our hostess, Juming, a Chinese American who had lived in America for eight years, had returned to China to live, and by now knew the need for training. This time there were second timers who brought people who wanted to be trained to be Christian Counsellors.
Juming heard the cry of her people and returned to America in 2010 and took all the classes offered by Compassionate Care Int’l. ,reading every book and watching every video Millie gave her to help her learn the concepts she was teaching.
In August, 2010, Juming graduated as a Certified Compassionate Caregiver from Compassionate Care Int’l., and returned to China to begin the process of preparing for our upcoming training in October, 2010. Tom Garrison went with her to China, except on separate business. The day after bringing 40 people to Christ and baptizing them in the Yangtze River, Tom died of a burst aorta, and our trip was postponed for the team and for Juming to grieve our loss and regroup and to discern God’s plans for our continued training.
